Normally when children see their mother´s tummy getting bigger itmeans a new member of the family is on the way. But it might be thatinstead of waiting for the baby to come, one has to go looking forhim. John, the central character of the story, goes searching for hissister a long distance. And all she does is cry, in spite of John´sbest efforts. But once Maria begins to get used to her new family, she becomes more confident.
