Además de los jugadores que suben del filial y de los cedidos que se hanrecuperado, han aterrizado en el Club Ter Stegen, Bravo, Rakitic,Mathieu, Vermaelen, Douglas y Luis Suárez, la gran apuesta paramantenerse en lo más alto del fútbol mundial.
En cambio, la enfermedad y la muerte de Tito Vilanova marcarontrágicamente la temporada 2013-2014. Apenas iniciada pretemporada,Vilanova tuvo que abandonar la plaza de entrenador y el Club fichó alTata Martino, que en su presentación prometió el retorno al estilo dejuego atractivo y ganador de los últimos años.Aunque este impulso sequedó por el camino y las dificultades que rodeaban al Club seacumularon, los jugadores no rebajaron la competitividad y lucharonpor los títulos hasta los instantes decisivos.
